India's first pure Neo-Noir Psychological Thriller
THE SANTORIUM
Logline:
An honest police officer and her idealistic sister defy a corrupt system to uncover a potent intersection of crime and deceit after a fearless investigative journalist goes missing while investigating a mental hospital connected to human trafficking. However, they find that the true enemy is more hidden than they ever could have imagined.
Synopsis:
Ananya Mathur (32), a fiery and idealistic investigative journalist, is known for exposing the rot that lurks beneath the surface of society. She is currently investigating rising cases of human trafficking and prostitution. As her investigation progresses, Ananya comes across a shocking clue — a prestigious psychiatric hospital, Ravenshade Sanatorium, may be at the centre of the city's darkest secrets. Patients get admitted, but no one ever returns home after recovery. At the centre of it all is the mysterious director, Dr. Clara Fernandes (52). A renowned psychiatrist on the surface, there are whispers about Clara operating a well-organised prostitution and human trafficking racket, patronised by powerful politicians, businessmen, and police officers.
Ananya takes her findings to her news channel, but the story is suppressed — there's no evidence, no witnesses, and too many powerful hands at play. Disappointed but undeterred, she confides in her closest allies: ACP Ranveer Singh Rana (38), an honest and brave officer, and Siya Mathur (25), her spirited younger sister who idolises her. Ananya hatches a bold plan — to get herself admitted as a patient at Ravenshade Sanatorium under the guise of suffering from post-traumatic disorder to uncover the truth from within. Inside the sanatorium, her nightmare begins. Patients — women, men, and even eunuchs — are drugged, brainwashed, and turned into sex slaves, smuggled into elite circles under the pretext of psychiatric treatment. Ananya discovers that Dr. Clara is not working alone; a cold-blooded assassin named Lamis (26) enforces control, while an invisible mastermind lurks behind everything.
Just as Ananya begins to gather evidence, she disappears. Days later, a burnt and mutilated body is found — believed to be hers. Yet, Siya and Ranveer sense something amiss. Refusing to accept her death, Siya takes up her sister’s mantle, determined to expose the truth. Ranveer, tormented by guilt, begins an unofficial investigation despite internal resistance. As the two dig deeper, they uncover a labyrinth of corruption, trauma, and power, where every truth comes at a price, and every revelation brings them closer to a trap meant to destroy them both.
